In the meantime, I've been prepping and getting ready for National ARBA convention 2017 in Indianapolis, IN. I am taking a show team of at least 6, and finding time to keep up with grooming show coats through the summer has been challenging. Here are some recent pictures of the Red, White and Blue show team!!!!
I kept a blue buck from Bijou's (with Rome) latest litter, I still need to name him. He is a 3-4 month old Junior. I love his development so far, he is making my buck cut standard and I'm also thrilled to be working with lines from 7Pines. I kept a REALLY nice REW buck from Jubilee's litter (also with Rome) as well... and wow is he something! VERY excited about him. His name is Bungalow's Persuasion. All around a nicely maturing buck.... easy to care for coat, and he keeps himself clean, a double score for a white buck.
And as for Sansa's most adorable and precious litter of torts.... I kept a STUNNING Lilac tort doe who is know as Bungalow's Goldilocks. Many of you may remember Fairlight from eariler this spring? This doe is a full sibling. I can't believe I'm saying this... but I strongly suspect she may be even nicer than Fairlight. Her body is EVERYTHING I wished to see. I'm elated about this girl. So very very excited. I adored Fairlight, and I adore Goldilocks. Her color is gorgeous, rich, and shines unlike many torts.... Her texture is so Silky & smooth, simply magnetizing your fingers to sink your hands in her deliciously fluffy wool. She has a gentle, calm personality, sits like a darling to be groomed, and is SUCH easy maintenance. Yep, I'm smitten.
As for the Senior Show team.... Words can't express. These are the densest animals I've ever raised and groomed out. I see goals I've worked towards for years in my breeding program materialize right under my very eyes and under my fingers. I stand amazed, literally. SO. Dense. Bodies. Just Wow.
First, Bungalow's Regal Essence. Senior REW doe, daughter of BISS GC Dustibunni's Eloquence and Bri's Rome. This doe is a REW after my own heart. I passionately love blue as you all well may know... but nothing can take a very special place in my heart for my REW program. Regal Essence is a bunny of my dreams. Rome brought some lovely length to the Dustibunni line in this pairing, the density is out of this world, the finish on this coat, the texture, the simple regal essence to this coat give this precious darling girl her name. Her body structure is compact, round, everything I wish to see. Every time I touch this sweet baby girl I simply go Wow, out loud. I love her. What can I say?! Lord willing, She will speak for herself on the showtables, of that I'm confident. She already holds 3 GC legs and a BISS at just 5 months. She has yet to be shown as a Senior, and her senior coat is like no other.
I have a Rabbit Show in Sedalia this upcoming weekend, which I will be attending. Planning to pull the showteam out! I also will be getting to meet Fairlight's litter of babies as well, my friend Lil will be bringing to the show. So excited to see the next generation of this amazing line!
Back during the 2nd week of August (hot weather super busy week), my faithful Blower just quit on me. I had my dad look at it and spend several hours working on fixing it, since he knows a lot about small engine repair, but it wasn't to be. So then here I am, all these show coats, no blower, middle of August. Really bad scenario. So I gave in and ordered a Brand NEW Airforce Metro 4.0 Pink Blower. Yep. Brand new. And it is AWESOME. It is higher powered than my last one. I'm considering it an investment.... and I do think it is worth it!! The show coats love it.
I also finally got a clipper instead of shearing by hand. I still remove my show coats by scissors, As I like precision with such a valuable prime coat, but I now have the Wahl Bravura clipper to work with. It is teal blue. Yep, I love it too! So worth it, saves me so much time.
I also will be demonstrating at the Fair Grove Heritage Reunion again this Fall. If you're local, come out and Say hi!!! It is a SUPER neat event, with so many interesting and hands-on learning experiences for the whole family. I will be there with several of the Bungalow Bunnies, demonstrating the old-time traditional way of spinning with my grandmother's spinning wheel. I will have several VERY adorable bunnies that love to meet people and get loved on(not for sale, but you can meet them!). I have a lovely booth space this year. Really looking forward to it!
