We'll start with Jinger's babies, because they might be considered to me, the most important. These kiddos could create headlines of their own each day with their adorable antics, cuddly kisses, and sweet little attitudes. (let alone the Drama... ahh these guys! Never thought I'd say "drama" about a rabbit, but these guys changed that!) I finally decided on names for all but the Chestnut. That girl has me for a loop. She needs just the perfect name. She has mama Jinger's attitude (!!!), she just so "happens" to be the pick of litter, with her daddy's thick dense coat, and beautiful furnishing and she has an amazing body. So I still need to name her. I'm calling her Chessy, short for Chestnut for now until I can come up with something more proper. ;-) So here are the names in accordance with each their color and current status.
Beverly~ Cream buck. Also a really nice pick of the litter on body, furnishings and density. Keeper for now.
Wynn~ Black buck. Gorgeous little man, has good density and amazing furnishings. Also a Keeper for now.
Felix~ Fawn buck. Love the color on this guy, just like his daddy in almost every other way. Keeper for now.
Chessy~ Chestnut doe. As I mentioned before, all the way around she is pick of the litter. Keeper for now.
Buttercup~ Fawn doe. Just like momma, has a great body, good furnishings, but lacks density. Might Keep.
Mona~ Black doe. Good Texture, sweet attitude, but I just don't need another black doe. ;-). *Available*
Felicity~ Lynx doe. Good furnishings, texture, okay density. Shoulders are a bit narrow for me. *Pending*
Love all of them, but I simply can't keep them all. Currently I've been spending 1-2 hrs a day grooming, but at this point it is mostly easy and fun. I'm training them about a blower, and they are so gentle they are mostly doing great with the brushes and combs. I'm hoping to take Bev, Felix, Wynn and Chessy to shows for the fall show season, so they must look their best. (and that of course, starts now. ;-) ) I keep telling myself I can't keep them all, because they all are so nice. These guys have potential.
Aggie babies Update:
All three are doing well. The little buck that has one blue eye has a home awaiting him, They've named him Blue. He is a sweet heart, I'll miss him.
Blue's two sisters are so sweet. I love them both, but sadly can't keep. They will be looking for homes, and I'm allowing the new future owners to name them.
Cupcake's babies. Yes, you do need a photo update on her and her daughter. Sweet little thing, just like her momma. MaryGrace, who really adores Cupcake (Cupcake is her special bunny), has decided to name the little one Caroline. Both are showable, lovely pets, and both are spoiled by Mary.
Amy needs to be rebred as well... once again the heat plays into this. Bruce Lee seems to have gone half sterile, but I might still try. Amy needs to be sheared again, I love how thick her density has come back in this second coat. She'll have some pretty babies yet.
As for Sea Cloud. I have made the hard decision to let her go to a new home. I know. Hard. But here is why: I'm really wanting to produce high quality English Angora's. Sea Cloud's shoulder's are very narrow, as I was informed by judge Ray Hall, & Margaret Bartold at the Sedaila show in April. The more I've researched about it and talked to other breeders, the more I find out about how hard it is to breed out and improve. A complicated fix. She also isn't as dense as Amy is, thus I'm keeping Amy over her. (let alone Amy has a better body) I'm sad to let her go, but I've decided that it is best for me and my breeding program right now. Jinger's babies are needing their own cages, and they will take most of my time to groom and let alone show later this fall. I'm not dropping my REW's, I still love them and will continue with them. But I've had some other better opportunities recently in other areas, so for now, besides Amy, the REW's are on the back burner.
On to Bruce Lee, some fun stuff here. As many of you may know, I've had him for awhile. However, when I got him he was sheared down. That is fine, but when I need a good idea of how dense that coat is, sheared down that isn't helpful. So I asked his original Owner and Breeder, Kelly Flading, if she could send me a picture of him in full coat. She so kindly sent me the one shown below. *Please note, it is her picture*
I'm excitedly hoping that some of Jinger's babies, especially Wynn and Chessy, look like him in a few months.
Still hoping to get a building for my rabbits; like a shed. I need insulation, full climate control and more cages. I have everything I need (the "more" cages, feeders, waterers.... even my A/C unit all ready to go!!) to go in it, I just need IT. lol... So yes, that is hopefully coming before next Spring, this fall if financially I can manage to swing it and Convention both. We'll see, It might be next Spring.
