They do look like just colorfully furred mice at one week old. But when you put the glasses of "Hopes and Dreams" on... the rose colored kind with a smidgen of history and a dash of logic.... I can see a little pile of pure darling snuggles and wiggling noses and long fluffy ears just sleeping themselves through the growth stage as they transform from little caterpillars to become butterflies in the angora world. Potential is sometimes like that, an elusive glimpse of feeling, a sense of seeing the future in something tiny no matter how insignificant it may seem at the moment. With patience, Potential can go places. And I have a whole litter of them! Talk about Exciting?
Now.... You're probably thinking.... did she really need another buck after having just introduced Dante?
Enter Problem #583 of raising fluffy rabbits: They are like potato chips. You can't just have one. Think about it! Do you want just 3 or like... and handful?
Okay okay... They take time, they need commitment, and I don't want a rabbit bonanza of rabbits everywhere. But I do need a few quality bucks to keep my program moving forward. I choose to pull in a few select animals from around the country to pair with my does. Something about me: I'm not a huge buck person. They need to be exceptional. I've got this really high standard of near-perfection. Dante met that. So does Tommy. So do a couple of young animals I have kept. (like Cortez and Persuasion). You might not see me pushing them at every show. I'll get them out a time or two, get some opinions, maybe a leg or two, and then retire them to their most important work: producing a line of champions.
Sometimes I'll go a couple years without getting a buck or two. Every now and again I'll see one worth diving for, and I dive. Yep, this time it happened to be 2 within 2 months. WOW. These breeders are doing a fantastic job, producing top of the line animals. You bet I'm thrilled! The chance of getting to purchase 2 exceptional animals within 2 months is utterly amazing! I know I what I just got and I'm over the moon!

And just for good measure... in case you need a smile to ward off any Janurary Blues... here are a few pictures from the rest of the farm....
