I went to Missouri State Convention (typically the biggest show in the state of MO) on the first weekend in December. I took 4 bucks (yep, I'm crazy. I don't want to do it again. :P) and 1 doe. The doe won BOB!!!! So allow me to introduce a beautiful little lady who I've dubbed as my Spring show beauty.... The Royal little daughter of Bungalow's Fairlight who I sent home with my friend Lil this spring. Fairlight produced this stunning little Lilac Tort (!!!!) beauty, who has now won a BOB by 5 months old. She has a leg, and beat the Senior classes competing. I'm thrilled!
With no more ado:
Introducing
Bungalow's Flicka of A Moment
"Just a rabbit" with the texture of a cloud, when your fingers meet her luscious coat and you sink them deep in her wool and close your eyes it is like you are flying above the clouds but touching them at the same time. Softer than a pillow, spilling into your hands, she turns that darling little nose towards you and puts her precious little paws on your arm and whispers "Kiss me Mama" with great soft eyes. With color as bright as a candle flame, the light breeze teasing the edges of her coat giving the glimpse of a candle flickering, she makes the dead cold of winter come alive with my first foot in the barn, she cheerfully oh so cheerfully hops right to the front for a greeting. How can I not fall in love with such a perfect tiny creature? Flicker of Joy, Burst of Cheerful light, Flicker of Hope, the mere Flicka of A Moment, this little doe lights up my life that much more. Simply put, she is charming.
First, My Lady Fairlight, now Flicka of A Moment. Bursts of Sunlight in a tangible, breathing form of Joy.
There. Just a rabbit you say? Perhaps, but life is what you choose to see. I choose joy, I choose light, I choose Flicka.
See, all these fluffy rabbits aren't just rabbits to me. Each one tells a story, a miniature glimpse of some aspect of life. Each one has taught me something.
Now I'm sure you're thinking, she is crazy, she is talking in riddles.
Well, Yes and No.
Each little nose, each little face, all that fluff is a living breathing gift from God. I've been hugely blessed, swept off my feet with the joy of getting to care daily for these precious little animals. I can't help but love them. It hasn't been easy raising them though. They take time, care, commitment, hard decisions, tears, heartache, and more time, but they repay me with so, so much more.
Happiness is in the little things. Happiness stems often from Kindness. I have a God that blesses me with his kindness, giving me, of all the people in this world, of all the girls in this state, the chance to work with these beautiful creatures. That is a gift.
Kindness is also something you give, like a gift.
I LOVE to share these little faces with others. I spent time this fall at local festivals and events, giving folks the hands on personal experience, Glimpse if you will, of what these little bundles are like. And you'll see it, Children and adults alike, LIGHT UP when they see something they've never seen before. Something that lives and breathes beauty and just wows them.
And just like that, the gift has been shared. But that isn't all, because in that moment, the joy on their faces just gave something back to me. Joy. The joy on their faces, the laughter in their eyes, the smiles, it gives me happiness to share that.
This is the season where many people are shopping frantically for Christmas, trying to find the perfect gift for loved ones, worrying about keeping everyone happy.
But what if you gave someone the memory of Joy this season?
I believe the greatest gift, Jesus, who came to proclaim "JOY to the world", who bore the greatest pain, gave the greatest gift, True Joy.
I find Joy in my Savior, he blesses me with little joys in life, and I'm honored to be chosen, blessed and given the gift of sharing my Joy with others. Even if it comes in bunny noses and fluff. They are part of my heart, part of my happiness, part of my Joy. I'm not sharing the leftovers, I'm sharing the best part, because every time Joy is given, a small act of Kindness or whatever it might be, Joy wraps itself up in whole new package, with a brand new bow.
Lots of people wrap gifts differently. Each gift is unique.
I'm sure you've heard the saying though.... "The best gifts come in small packages"
A memory is something that someone will treasure forever, It can have an eternal impact. Most people might not have even realized how big of an impact it might have, it seems small, insignificant sometimes.
You might not have a bunny, but you do have something. Something to share, something to give.
You know what gifts I like best? The Happy Kind.
So this Christmas, share the happy, share the kindness you have, with someone else. A complete stranger. A dearly loved one. It might be just a bunny, just a _____ to someone, but what if you could change that with one magical ingredient?
Joy.
All of a sudden, the tiny something, just became a big blessing to someone. Just a rabbit. Just a Thank You, just hold the door, just SMILE. And suddenly like that, there is incredible Joy, starting like a tiny happy feeling down inside, that just spills over.
"For behold, I come you, bringing good news of GREAT JOY, which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord"
- Luke 2:10-11
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday season this year!!!
